The last time many years ago that I saw The Strokes, it was at Jones Beach and Jay-z had just released 99 problems, after promoters begged him to perform the song, he hopped up on stage and did an impromptu (it probably wasn’t) set ahead of the Strokes who were headlining that evening, for some reason there was a miscommuncation and Jay-z thought he was closing and the Strokes had already played, he waved everyone goodbye and said thanks for coming this evening! It’s a wrap! Goodnight as confused concert goers started walking away, needless to say Julian Casablancas wasn’t thrilled as they began playing to a confused and emptying ampitheatre, so they walked off after 2 songs.
NOW’s OUR CHANCE! To see a (hopefully) full Strokes set! Thank god because that LES grit has turned into nostalgia and you need a reminder of all the ways in which you love this city, so watch out for the Strokes playing New Year’s Eve at Barclays Center. Tickets are now on sale and Governors Ball three-day and Sunday pass holders can get tickets early in a presale starting Tuesday (8/6) at 10 AM.
