ILL Jimbus – electronic breakfast: jazz for your soul
An artist made the craziest blend of warped electronica beats and is no where to be found. Well sort of, I found Ill Jimbus late into the night on my usual bandcamp benders, and thankfully, not judging a book by the cover brought me here: an unbridled love affair of synths, syncopation changes, and emotive trip-hop beats. This Ill Jimbus didn’t even bother to create song titles, but when you listen to its entirety, you wind up producing your own visions. Maybe artwork is overthought for a mediocre unimaginative record – for Electronic Breakfast: Jazz For Your Soul, it’s turning the process on its head. A flyby package that is all about its contents. So whether you are trying to read into song titles like “ghj” or “yhs]” you’ll stop searching by the second track I promise you that, the language of the instruments at work feel rapid and omnipresent. So my only thought this morning after a dose of breakfast, is who in lords name is Ill Jimbus?”
