Prince Paul, Digable Planet’s Ladybug Mecca, producer Don Newkirk (De La Soul), and Brazilian rapper Gorila Urbano are bringing a galactic Brooklyn meets Brazil sound. Introducing a fierce multi-instrumental strewn Brazilian hip hop compilation, it fuses together the tactile bygone Mixtape era, true to Brooklyn, with the duende spirits of Brazil. This 12 minute mixtape, explores both worlds in impressive mantric fashion, as the Brazilian beats and singing get swashed up in the sweet sounds of turntable vinyl and MC’s introducing pieces like a block party get down. Together, this “super group” are a collective named BROOKZILL! and as September shows have been filing up left and right, BROOKZILL! joins the initial fall line up for NYC, their first show will be at SOB’s September 14.
