Friday Night Fire Leaves Union Hall Closed Indefinitely
Late last night a fire broke out in Park Slope venue Union Hall. Thankfully no one was harmed, the band Savak was headlining Friday night, along with Lake Ruth, and alarms apparently went off towards the end of their set.
According to Brooklyn Vegan, “There was major damage to the venue, however, “Place is wrecked,” said Hewson Chen of Lake Ruth, in reference to the upstairs part of the venue. The downstairs, where bands play, was less affected, and the bands recovered their gear a few hours later. (“A few wet amps,” said Greg Vegas who played saxophone with SAVAK that night.)”
Union Hall is still assessing the damage but will be closed in the short term and hope to reopen as quickly as possible.
