Moses Sumney – Lonely World | Official Music Video Finds Beauty In The Darkness
Moses Sumney is back causing waves of synapses in our minds, adjusting in rapid fashion to all the things going on in “Lonely World.”
An eerie almost Kubric-like diminished guitar sound starts off the song, followed by the pulsating looping guitars, and soft introduction of Sumney’s falsetto ushering out the sonata to Sumney’s words, they ring out, “Lonely, lonely, lonely, world.”
There are moments that would make the Beatles proud with a certain imaginative and sonic depth that seeks iconoclast status, while Nina Simone would bask at the range. But what is remarkable about the video over this beautiful song is the rawness of what a kaleidoscopic naked body provides the viewer, when you see this over the limitlessness the song makes you feel, it gives you chills, as Sumney’s pure high falsetto’s take you into the catacombs of love for music and the purification it can provide if done from the sense of purging.
“Lonely World” Produced by Gueorgui Linev, who recently sat down with us for an interview, with additional production by Moses Sumney & Joshua Willing Halpern, on Bass Thundercat, Guitars by Tosin Abasi & Joshua Willing Halpern, Drums by our local friend Ian Chang.
