“I remember standing there at Spike Hill snapping photos at a @wearethewilderness concert, eager to catch up with fellow Brooklynites, friends, Shanda Woods (vocals) and Ryan Manchester (guitar, keys) when they wrapped up…

They played their last tune at an event sponsored by Emerging Artists Connect, but catching up took a turn for the unexpected, Shanda and Ryan had revealed they had just gotten off a long, slightly traumatic experience. They were shooting footage at inside a large abandoned insane asylum. While we’ve all heard of ghost stories and there are plenty of “reality-tv” series dramatizing said occurrences of phantom grazing, unexplained noises, and hazy movement, sure to send shutters down the spine of many. But while believing to a degree of various perfectly reasonable phenomena, like some, I was skeptical. What I saw when I looked at a cellphone image taken from Ryan’s phone, truly made be a believer… In the window could clearly be seen an angry looking face of an old man grimacing back at him folks…

It’s fitting then that the brand new track from local based We Are The Wilderness is aptly titled, Apparitions. These guys rock and work hard, are even willing to face the dead, and are coming into their own sound as of late. I don’t see as many people so eager at the same time, personally vested in being a part of a better situation for other artists here, so if you make it a point in your upcoming end of summer/early fall concert calendar to see them, be sure to get spooky with We Are The Wilderness and check out their new single.”
