“Nick Leng is a Northern California artist who spent his childhood in South Africa. His latest “Playing With Fire” makes use of long reverberant trails with a focus on poly-rhythmic grooves engulfing each chorus interrupting the expansive feeling of the verses, an effect that jolts you to move along. It comes as little surprise as Leng is a producer for artists in his neighborhood, his attention to detail on the sonic-esthetic choices are very cohesive, I love to see producers that make music, sometimes it’s the only remedy to get a story out.
