For those that haven’t been over to Brooklyn’s Sultan Room, the odd story of our new neighbors Varun Kataria and Tyler Erickson will warm your heart. Places that mean something to us are so important to hold onto; as digital disconnectedness and the massive boom for the 1% recreate a hallowing feeling in large American cities. Kataria and Erickson are childhood buddies who grew up working at Erickson’s family’s famous Minneapolis jazz club (which hosted Prince and Philip Glass) both friends went on to rescue the space after it closed.

The Mauskovic Dance Band

On Tuesday March 10th The Mauskovic Dance Band a no-wave dance punk Afro-Caribbean fusion band will be performing at the space. The band is best known for their hectic touring schedule with Turkish psychedelic folk rock group Altin Gün, and touring with the re-formed 70s Zamrock outfit W.I.T.C.H.

Los Cumpleaños

Following the disco punk Mauskovic will be Los Cumpleaños bringing the listener Psych-Synth, “Post-Truth Tropical Futurism.” The results are a dance-able energetic catharsis that must be experienced. Opening for MAKU Soundsystem, Orquesta Dee Jay, Beyoncé, Joan as Police Woman, People’s Champs & The Superpowers to name a few!
