Classic Trax – Willie HutchLove Power

“Willie Hutch was a singer/songwriter/producer who co-wrote and arranged many hits for Motown Records, including the Jackson 5’s smash “I’ll Be There”. He had many solo songs on the Billboard R&B chart, among them was his biggest, “Love Power”, which went to #8, but that same song missed the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at #41. Hutch has 2 other Hot 100 entries in 1973; “Brother’s Gonna Work It Out” (#67) and “Slick” (#65). Both of these songs peaked on the R&B chart at #18 and his influence over Motowns clandestine musicians was less spoken of, but arguably just as significant at the other well known greats.”
