A slew of popular artists have played at previous CMJ Music Marathons including Lady Gaga, Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes, Friendly Fires, MGMT, Passion Pit and more! Tomorrow Nadeem Ahmed himself will represent Elevator9Records/E9productions at Terminal5. He will be reviewing all the following acts below as a jetBlue Airways representative for their partnership with CMJ’s festival! If you’re traveling that day be sure to check out all the fun happening exclusively at t5 at JFK Airport!
The lineup
Since this festival is all about discovering new music before it’s discovered by the masses, there’s a good chance that you haven’t heard of everyone on the lineup—but that’s part of the fun! We’re giving Customers and Crewmembers a chance to play music professional and get first dibs on up and coming talent. Here’s some background on who’s who:
Icona Pop – 1 p.m.
Icona Pop is a Swedish DJ and electropop duo that blends house, punk, and indie. Their single, “I Love It” circled indie music radio stations this summer.
JJAMZ – 2 p.m.
You may be familiar with JJAMZ, since they recently performed on Jimmy Kimmel. Their song, “Heartbeat,” is featured on the new MySpace commercial. Bandmates include Maroon 5’s lead guitarist Bright Eyes’ drummer.
Matt Sucich – 3 p.m.
This singer-songwriter hails from our backyard in Astoria, Queens and is known for his soothing voice and ability to convey love, loss, and everything in between. His heart-breaking lyrics run deep, quickly putting to bed any notions of a simple love song. Sucich performed at Bonnaroo earlier this year.
Kate Earl – 4 p.m.
A singer-songwriter from Alaska, who just released her second album entitled “Stronger.” Earl’s sound infuses soul, pop, and gospel; her style may remind you of Cat Power, Björk, or Joss Stone!
