That’s right! We were asked to help curate a night of music at Black Bear Bar by co-founder Brian Riccardi of Turnstyle Media Group, a major events booking and artist agency operating out of New York City and San Francisco. The official lineup is Fine Animal, Oracle Room, and Belle Mare. We had an in-depth interview with Tom and Amelia of Belle Mare this week, check it out here. And you can still purchase tickets here. This all goes down Sunday November 15th at 6:30pm while Fine Animal (who were just on NPR last night) are set to kick things off at 7:00pm sharp. With glow sticks, some balloons, and us filming the night? Be sure to wear your Sunday best! This event as recommended by: CMJ, All Things Go, The Deli Magazine, and Oh My Rockness!

See you all soon.

BELLE MARE

BIOGRAPHY: “Prior to recording at Electric Lady, Belle Mare released the aforementioned EP, The Boat of the Fragile Mind in April of 2013. A collection of eight songs described as “spaciously eerie” by Spin, the EP was written and recorded by the duo in just four months in the modest confines of Servidone’s Brooklyn apartment. It is a strikingly different experience from the Electric Lady recordings, conjuring “a sense of timeless unbeholden to a specific time” (Eric Danton, Listen Dammit). Hoping to fill out the lineup for their shows, the duo quickly sought out a backing band to supplement the production on the EP and reimagine the songs for a live audience. The first addition was songwriter Tara Rook on keyboards. Quickly following that, Rob Walbourne (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) joined as drummer, and Gary Atturio (Savoir Adore) came on as bassist. The band are set to self-release their first single, “Cicada,” in February, with the full album to be released in 2015. The song bears all the hallmarks of the EP, and both highlights Bushell’s heartfelt voice and showcases the band’s newly-evolved sound.”

ORACLE ROOM

BIOGRAPHY: ” The lush pop of Oracle Room is centered around the lyrics and vocals of songwriter Alex Nelson – the emotional catalyst for the band’s ghostly turbulent electronica. Their early recordings were done by Converse Rubber Tracks, playing their second time with fellow Brooklynites Belle Mare.”

FINE ANIMAL

BIOGRAPHY: “WITH A SOUND THAT MELTS INTO THE ROOM FINE ANIMAL HAVE AN UNDERLYING CALMNESS THAT CAN’T HELP BUT ENGROSS THE MIND AS WAVE UPON WAVE OF ELECTRONICS FOLD GENTLY OVER EACH OTHER, AS ALMOST IMPERCEPTIBLE GUITARS GIVE AN IMMEDIACY, WHILST A CAPTIVATING VOCAL FASCINATES THE EARS. THIS IS MUSIC TO LISTEN TO WHILST UNWINDING IN THE CHILL-ROOM AS THE AMBIENT BEATS UNDULATE AROUND THE BRAIN. FINE ANIMAL IS ABLE TO TITRATE SENSES OF TRIBAL SOUNDS, WHICH GIVES THE RESULTING PIECES A MESMERICALLY HAUNTING TEMPER INTO WHICH THE MIND CAN DRAW ITS OWN IMAGES.” -TIM WHALE, EMERGING INDIE BANDS
