Denitia Odigie’s metamorphosis on her new single “Waiting” moves beyond the umbrella of Denitia and Sene‘s R&B feel (the stellar collab she manifested on wax with Brian Marc last year). For those that have heard her even before that with her sophomoric musings, it was the Adesuwa project that pulled others and myself included in, with all its starlit sounds.
“Waiting” is much more cerulean and golden, it’s refined canorous writing manifests with simple mantras, “Looking for a change.” The production meshes tapestries from genres that I’m starting to associate as her headspace. If anything I’m old school, I’d be happy to put an entire record of this material fleshed out on repeat.
