Last week we had the great pleasure of filming our last artist interview for 2017 with New York-bred band Conquista. The band comprised of A. Sarr & WAMOO are making songs for “weird brown kids,” blending sounds from their own cultures with a lexicon that can only be found in this city. With the political climate and social upheaval present the band harkins to the night singer/guitarist A. Sarr was hospitalized when the two friends decided to create Conquista. Wamoo and A. Sarr both talk about the cultural implications of their music worlds and the world they create between the two in this interview. Below you can find their performance of “Carajoland” on the Manhattan-bound J train.
